My Studio

And now this is my turn to show a little bit of my Shangri-la... my space where we get together, weave, have a cup of coffee.

The Oakville Tapestry Studio is a small space, but I think it is just what we need.

Project for Nine lives

This is my new mini tapestry I will present for the nine lives exhibit in the World of Threads Festival 2009 next Fall.

This was inspired on one of Lyn Estall's paintings. The exhibit, since it is our seventh Festival, we wanted to relate it this time to feline-theme. I had so much fun weaving this piece.

If anyone is interested in participating the call for entry will end next May and it is open National for Canada.

Yukon Fields

This is the tapestry I finished today, January 13. It is a comission for a friend from Mexico and it will be presented next Friday in Oakville's Town Hall for the exhibit

abstract Canadian Landscape. It was inspired in a photograph from the fields in Yukon. It was really attrractive weaving in Orange......I mean really bright orange. The materials go from silk, linen, cotton, metallic, synthetic....fabric...anything I found that I could use for the fields, I incorporated them in.

Aboriginals here and there

This is my tapestry inspired both in the Maya profiles and the Norval Morriseau images from the First Nations Art Work. It was my first tapestry woven in Canada when I arrived, and it moved me so much to find similarities in our aboriginals. Colours, shapes and energy.

My latest tapestry.

This is my latest Tapestry, Explosions in the Savanah. It is a project inspired in one of Lyn Estall's, Oakville's local artist and friend art work.
The size was so fun to work on and specially, the amount of yellow in it was a challenge for me. It moved and changed my regular pallette of colour, but I enjoyed it so much!.
I love mixing different textures and materials eventhough this tapestry is almost all plain weave, comparing to my other projects.
I will be participating in the World of Threads Festival 2009, and it could be one of my choices for the International Juried Show Common Thread.Deadlines are coming soon, so don't miss this opportunity to participate.

Fibre Artist for over 28years. My work has been exhibited in Mexico, France, Poland, Denmark, Belgium and Canada. My work has been influenced by the Maya Culture and my perception of nature surrounding me.

I love texture, color, and blending hues to provoque contrast that attract your senses!

I have participated in numerous individual and group exhibits. My experience as a University Professor for more then 13 years gave me great satisfaction in the group proyects we were able to accomplish. I am a Graphic Designer, Textile artist, Master Degree in Museums, Post-Graduate course in Contemporary Textiles in Lódz, Poland among many other courses.

Having lived in Mexico, Poland, Spain and now Canada, and I am exploring new proyects for my work.
