woven journal day 22. Happy New Year 2011

Happy New Year 2011 to All, and may each and every one of you have many projects ahead.

As you can see behind me, the bark project at Joshua Creek's attic is coming alive! I cannot say we are half way through but it sure looks like the project is now coming alive. I cannot tell you how excited I was to return to my weaving after a couple of weeks of moving, packing, un-packing, setting Christmas stuff, etc, etc. I was telling my family how important and necessary it is for me to weave. It has become after all of these years a part of my breath. This series of tapestries is not only taking my full energy and attention, but also it has given me even more ideas to accomprish through tapestry.

here, as you who have been following the woven journal project, it is showing half (right side), and below the left side because of course almost 5 meters of width would not fit in my instant camara.

Today was the first day of weaving in the Attic at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre in 2011!

Fantastic as always. energy and creativity all around is just a perfect spot to rejoice in the fascinating world of Art.
Cold weather yet bright sunny day welcomed our way through the several studios.

Sybil, kind and warming as usual opened her heart for a promissing year.

New exhibitions where set today at the Gallery and visitors to the place accompanied us in our first day of the year. Information for the new wxhibitions at the Centre:

Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre Announces
A Lasting Impression, Works from the John & Gisela Sommer Collection

Oakville, Ontario - January 4, 2011 John and Gisela Sommer made their dream come true in a turn of the century house in Georgetown, Ontario. For 42 years John Sommer and his magic hammer hung the halls, rooms and stairways of his Gallery House Sol with the art, ceramics and sculpture of emerging Canadian artists. Gisela stitched carpets for the floors and grew plants for the windows, welcoming all gallery visitors to a heartwarming and aesthetic adventure. The latest exhibition at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre, A Lasting Impression, runs from January 8th to February 6th, 2011 and features an exciting collection of works donated to the Art Gallery of Peel by John and Gisela Sommer.

The Sommers often mounted 10 shows a year and Gallery House Sol became a launching pad with more than 200 artists participating in their exhibitions. Their enthusiasm and support of these artists, many of who went on to garner regional, national and international reputation, resulted in an enormous collection of paintings, ceramics, sculpture and photography.

A Lasting Impression is a voyage of discovery to experience a unique collection of art, chosen because it made John's "heart sing". The Sommers have always believed in the artists of today, in original art and in the impact of creativity. Their home, Gallery House Sol, remains today, a way of life.

Joshua Creek featured in Rich Bride, Poor Bride Television Show

In August 2010, the television show Rich Bride, Poor Bride filmed an episode at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre. This episode, VI - 6084, featuring Bride Diana and Groom Mark, will play on the SLICE Network, Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at 8:00 pm.

During the filming, the Fibre Arts exhibition "Naked" was on display in the Gallery. Jon Dobson, from Rich Bride, Poor Bride, tells us that the footage of the Gallery is amazing and there will be artwork in the shots, so we hope you will have the opportunity to watch the show!

Other interesting visitors to the Attic was Catherine Varga and Heather Hannan , both inspirational wonderful women who give courses and workshops on one of the new Reiki".

Their Varga Hannan Sound Healing System uses the voice as the instrument of tones that are intuitively created. The voices of our gifted facilitators resonate to the same vibrational frequency as the Divine Oneness of All That Is. The tones sung are uplifting, unique and have an ethereal quality that creates an alpha state for some and a very relaxed and calm sensation for others. After the Attunement at the end of this weekend, the light energy and vibration of each participant will be resonating to the highest level of vibration they have ever experienced.

"I believe we experience a rebirth every time we heal something within ourselves, whether it is an attitude, a habit, or experience. Letting go is a conscious decision we make and we are forever changed. This is Conscious Reincarnation™."

Thank you All for visiting us today and helping this tapestry grow. Until next weave!
